Father-and-son rock band Power Take Off have put their Midwest roots front and center on “Cornfields at Midnight,” a single produced by Chuck Alkazian at Pearl Sound Studios. Released August 18, 2026, the song reflects on changing rural communities, family history and the loss of familiar landscapes.

Power Take Off centers on vocalist Scott and his son Ayden, who began making music together in their family basement in 2019. Scott is a fourth-generation farmer and longtime musician who moved from the drum kit to lead vocals; Ayden is the drummer. Guitarists Ethan “Hank” Schluter and Mike “Cowboy” Delp and bassist Jakob “JR” complete the group.
Scott says he wrote “Cornfields at Midnight” after watching farmland and small towns change over time. The track takes the images of cornfields giving way to construction and turns them into a driving rock song grounded in his own memories.
New music and fall shows
The single follows “Dixie Cup,” which the band’s publicist reports has exceeded 100,000 streams. “Cornfields at Midnight” is available through ANRGIRL/Betachain, distributed through FUGA/Universal.
Power Take Off’s upcoming shows include September 25 at The Windsor in DeForest, Wisconsin, October 3 at Anchor Inn in Newville, and additional October dates across Wisconsin. The group’s live shows sometimes feature Scott and Ayden switching roles between drums and vocals.
