Rocking With Jam Man speaks with Dan Kenny of Suicide Silence about the upcoming album Graceless, his experience recording the controversial 2017 self-titled album, memories of Mitch Lucker, the possibility of an Animosity reunion, and plenty more.
Dan Kenny opens up about the 2017 Suicide Silence album
Asked how the band felt while recording the self-titled record, Kenny admits he didn’t think the cleaner vocal approach fit the band’s identity. He says he likely won’t listen to the record again. In a striking exchange, Kenny also discusses a difficult period of heavy drinking and going to rehab after the sessions. When Jam Man mentions a report that he left the band for a week, Kenny corrects the story: according to him, the band encouraged rehab and he agreed, but he never left Suicide Silence.
Graceless arrives November 20
Suicide Silence’s new album Graceless arrives November 20, 2026, via Century Media Records. Kenny calls the 1:53 title track a short, aggressive knockout and says the album returns to the natural energy of writing together. He reveals that “NVRFXLD” commemorates a friend who died in a car accident and includes archival acoustic guitar from that friend.
Remembering Mitch Lucker
Kenny describes joining the band and being thrown into a first Suicide Silence show in Australia before around 6,000 people. He laughs about Mitch Lucker joking that he looked like a “scared puppy,” arguing everyone was nervous. Away from the spotlight, Kenny remembers Lucker skateboarding, going to movies, trying restaurants, and enjoying time with friends.
Band history, reunion talk and touring
Elsewhere, Kenny talks about why a reunion of Animosity would be difficult to organize, how “You Only Live Once” became a hit, the vault of unreleased Suicide Silence riffs, and conversations—without any confirmed plans—about marking the 20th anniversary of The Cleansing. He immediately picks Metallica over Megadeth in a hypothetical collaboration and shares the personal tour history behind the band’s longstanding Megadeth jokes. Also discussed: Slaughter to Prevail covering Suicide Silence, Ross Robinson’s intense studio methods, Cannibal Corpse, the Dallas Cowboys, and his death-row meal.
