MASTER BOOT RECORD are mixing music and gaming again. Italy’s computer-metal project has released the single “PLUG AND PLAY” with a new music video that also serves as a trailer for a retro-style racing game titled No Trace Back.
The song comes from the upcoming album Computer Metal, scheduled for release on October 30, 2026 through Metal Blade Records.
Music Meets Gaming
Project founder Vittorio D’Amore says “PLUG AND PLAY” is the melodic anthem of the new album. The accompanying game is being developed by Theta Division Games, the team behind VirtuaVerse. The demo is free through Theta Division.
The game draws from old vector-graphics arcade racers. According to D’Amore, its full release is expected to build on the demo with more narrative, strategy and VR features.
‘Computer Metal’ Arrives October 30
The ten-track record was composed through MIDI in Cubase, using computers as the core instrument while adding real guitars in places. It follows 2024’s Hardwarez and revisits the sounds and memories of early home computing through song titles such as “DOT MATRIX,” “SOCKET 7,” “CRT” and “CTRL + ALT + DEL.”
