DESOLAT Drop “The Art Of Shit” Ahead of ‘People As Idiots & Idiots As Leaders’

Jam Man take: DESOLAT are not trying to make comfortable background music. “The Art Of Shit” is noisy, sarcastic and deliberately confrontational, aimed at the way art and culture get packaged, marketed and sold back to people.

Official Press Release

Vienna political hardcore punk/noise rock trio DESOLAT have released “The Art Of Shit,” the latest preview of their third album People As Idiots & Idiots As Leaders, due October 9 in the U.S. through Reptilian Records and Exotic Fever Records as part of a wider international DIY release.

The band describes the album as a reaction to what its members see as political and social decline, while “The Art Of Shit” steps partly outside that larger concept to take aim at the art world’s marketing language and artist self-promotion.

The record features guest appearances from Jarboe, saxophonist Michael Masen and RBK of Rolltreppe. It was recorded and mixed at Cosmix Studio in Vienna by Rainer Spänle and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound.

DESOLAT will hold an album-release show October 16 at Venster99 in Vienna.
