Louisville black metal band ANAGNORISIS are ending a decade-long absence with a new album, Caregriever, arriving October 23.
The latest preview, “Choke,” shows a more immediate and suffocating side of the record. The song follows “Nothing Left To Give” and helps establish the emotional path of an album built around prolonged caregiving, grief, exhaustion and the complicated feelings that can begin long before a loved one is gone.
Musically, the band has pulled back some of the symphonic scale of its earlier work in favor of a darker and more direct approach, bringing industrial and punk elements into its post-black metal foundation.
Caregriever was produced and recorded by Zak Denham and Zachary Kerr, with drums and bass tracked at Top Track Studios. Denham also mixed and mastered the album.
ANAGNORISIS will return to the stage on October 23 in Chicago for its first show in ten years, followed by Milwaukee on October 24. The band is also scheduled for Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle in May 2027.
