LOCKPORT, NY — There is a new address for Halloween scares in Western New York, and the setting might be the most interesting part of the whole story. Pine Street Horror Haunted House has opened for the 2026 season at 33 Pine Street in Lockport, bringing the creative team behind the former 7 Gates Screampark into a multi-floor downtown building with a dark backstory. Rocking With Jam Man stopped by for an on-location interview and a closer look at what the attraction is aiming to do.

Our review: A better premise than just another dark hallway

A lot of Halloween attractions rely on the same ingredients: a maze, some strobes, a monster around the corner, and a scream before you can catch your breath. Pine Street Horror is starting with something stronger: a location that has a story of its own. The attraction is built in a former furniture and undertaking business, and the creative concept leans into its funeral-home associations. Its narrative draws on a character named D. W. Whitmore and the building’s reputed history. The grisly disappearances in the haunt’s legend are part of the attraction’s storytelling, not independently established historical fact.

That is an appealing creative direction. A multi-story setting gives the designers room to change the atmosphere as guests move through the building, while the undertaking theme offers a coherent look and storyline rather than random, disconnected scares. It could be a particularly strong choice for local horror fans who enjoy creepy world-building as much as jump scares.

The important distinction: our accompanying video is an interview with the attraction, not a scene-by-scene test of the full walk-through. We are not inventing a scare count, an intensity rating, a wait time, or a verdict about every room. As a concept, Pine Street Horror has a distinctive setting, clear identity and a solid reason for haunt fans to put Lockport on their October list. How terrifying the entire walk-through feels is something visitors will judge for themselves.

From 7 Gates Screampark to Pine Street Horror

The people behind Pine Street Horror previously operated under the 7 Gates Screampark name. For 2026, the team has moved the concept to downtown Lockport and established a new identity. Instead of simply repeating its old name at a new location, the project uses the historic building and its own fictionalized mythology as the spine of the experience.

For Western New York, that gives fans another Halloween option beyond the usual familiar haunts. The fact that Pine Street Horror is set within a downtown building—rather than an open field or sprawling outdoor site—also makes it stand out from the typical scream-park format.
