JAYLER are not interested in being treated like a museum piece. The young UK rock band may wear their love of the giants proudly, but James Bartholomew and Tyler Arrowsmith are trying to turn that foundation into something that belongs to their own generation.
Bartholomew and Arrowsmith join Remzi “Jam Man” Yates on Rocking With Jam Man for a conversation that gets beyond the standard origin-story questions and into the tension at the heart of JAYLER: how do you openly love classic rock without becoming trapped by it?
JAYLER, Led Zeppelin and the “Immigrant Song” Connection
The Led Zeppelin comparison follows JAYLER everywhere. It is easy to understand why: Bartholomew’s soaring vocals, Arrowsmith’s guitar work and the band’s swagger all draw from the same deep well of British rock. But the connection goes deeper than a critic hearing a familiar influence. Early in their story, Bartholomew and Arrowsmith bonded over music including “Immigrant Song,” and JAYLER even played the Zeppelin classic live in their earlier days.
That makes the comparison more interesting than a simple question of whether it bothers them. JAYLER released their 11-track debut album Voices Unheard on May 29, 2026 through Silver Lining Music. The record features “Down Below,” “Riverboat Queen,” “Need Your Love,” “Bittersweet,” “Hate to See It End,” “Over the Mountain,” “Alectrona,” “Lovemaker” and the expansive closer “The Rinsk.”
The album title fits a band that has had to work out exactly who gets to define it. Bartholomew and Arrowsmith discuss the realities of being young in the music business, learning whom to trust and protecting JAYLER’s identity while their career accelerates. It is a useful counterweight to the romantic picture of young musicians suddenly breaking through: success does not remove the hard decisions behind the scenes.
Classic Rock DNA, Modern Ambition
JAYLER’s lineup is James Bartholomew on vocals and guitar, Tyler Arrowsmith on guitar, Ricky Hodgkiss on bass and keys, and Ed Evans on drums. The band openly draws from the golden age of British rock, but the bigger question is what a band in 2026 can add to that language.
That is where this interview gets interesting. Rather than asking why two young musicians like old records, the conversation challenges the premise itself. Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the other bands now considered “classic” became important because they pushed forward in their own time. For JAYLER, respecting that history ultimately means deciding when to preserve it and when to break away from it.

The band’s momentum is no longer theoretical. JAYLER supported Sammy Hagar during his 2026 UK return, and their calendar now includes a substantial run of shows with Deep Purple. Current listings put JAYLER alongside Deep Purple across Europe this fall, followed by UK arena dates in November.
Those stages put a new-generation band directly in front of audiences raised on the very music that helped shape JAYLER. That creates both an opportunity and a test: winning over a crowd that did not necessarily buy a ticket for the opening act is one of the fastest ways to find out whether the songs work beyond social media and hype.
