Elias Soriano of Nonpoint Talks The Last Word, Legacy Bands, Physical Music, Touring, Covers & Why Nonpoint Is Still Not Done
By Rocking With Jam Man
Elias Soriano of Nonpoint joined Rocking With Jam Man for a brand-new interview to talk about the band’s upcoming eleventh studio album, The Last Word, out September 18, 2026 through 361 Degrees Records.
The album arrives with the new single and music video “Is It,” a song Elias says deals with that internal fight of wondering if you pushed too hard, asked too much, or hurt someone while trying to do what you thought was right. In the interview, Elias explained that the record is more than just another release. For Nonpoint, it is a statement.
When asked if The Last Word is a warning or a statement, Elias said the music industry sometimes tries to place limits on legacy bands and artists who have been around for decades. This album is Nonpoint’s chance to answer back.
Elias also made it clear that the band is not coasting on old songs.
“This is my favorite Nonpoint record, hands down,” he said, explaining that the new material feels like a different era for the band and the most complete body of work they have made.
The album artwork, featuring the symbolic pencil, also became a major part of the conversation. Elias described it as the idea of being handed one final tool to write your last chapter. But instead of accepting an ending, Nonpoint is using that pencil until it breaks.
Jam Man and Elias also got deep into the modern music world, including streaming, playlists, physical music, CDs, vinyl, cassettes, and whether younger fans still understand the value of a full album. Elias said one of the reasons Nonpoint went independent was to make sure full bodies of work still see the light of day.
The conversation also covered how Nonpoint keeps evolving without losing its teeth. Elias said the band knows what moves the needle with their fanbase: the groove, the intensity, Robb Rivera’s drums, his vocals, and the chemistry of all five members pushing in the same direction.
Elias also talked about “Bullet With A Name” becoming part of the nu-metal story, “Alive and Kicking” taking on a deeper meaning because of fans who have leaned on it through hard times, and why “Heartless” deserves more love.
With the Even More Outta Control Tour kicking off July 25, Elias said new songs like “Is It” and “Red Yeti” have already been hitting hard live. He also said Nonpoint’s new music is some of the strongest the band has ever written, revealing they wrote more than 23 songs and settled on 10 for the album.
Of course, it would not be a Jam Man interview without covers and death row meals. Elias said fans have been asking Nonpoint to cover “Bring Da Ruckus” by Wu-Tang Clan, and he also mentioned The Fugees, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Prince, and even yacht rock as possible lanes for future covers. Jam Man also pitched “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” and Elias admitted that one has actually been talked about before.
For his death row meal, Elias picked Puerto Rican food: lechón, chicharrón, mofongo, and beans.
When asked what younger bands get wrong about surviving in the music business, Elias kept it simple: do not expect people to do the work for you. You have to be ready to do way more DIY than you think.
And when Jam Man asked what Nonpoint’s final word would be if this really was The Last Word, Elias answered with one word:
“Thank you.”
