Portland heavy rock trio HIPPIE DEATH CULT are back with “Grit, Blood & Bone”, their first new studio release in three years.
The stand-alone single arrives after the band’s signing with Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records and leans into the group’s blend of ’70s heavy rock, psychedelic weight and faster, more percussive metal energy.
Lyrically, the song centers on resilience, aging and refusing to let outside judgment define personal worth. The band frames the track as a bridge between the foundational grit of early heavy music and the speed and aggression that came later.
The release lands while HIPPIE DEATH CULT are active on the road in Europe and the UK. The band have also announced a U.S. run with Corrosion Of Conformity and The Sword, putting the trio on one of the stronger heavy-rock packages of the season.
“Grit, Blood & Bone” is accompanied by a new official video and marks the beginning of the band’s next recording era.
