Former Havok and Machine Head guitarist Reece Scruggs has launched a new thrash/death metal project called BURNING HAMMER, newly signed to Nefarious Industries.
Scruggs handles guitar and lead vocals and is joined by bassist Noah Martin, known for Arsis and Wolven Spirit, and drummer Stefen Burns of Monolith.
The band’s first single, “Rabid Lycanthropy,” is out now with a lyric video. The track was produced, mixed and mastered by Burns at B&M Studios in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
BURNING HAMMER are finishing their debut album for an early 2027 release. Scruggs describes the sound as a collision of death metal and thrash, with technical, punk and blackened elements built around horror, cryptic and conspiratorial themes.
