Cascade Effect Talks Wacken, New Music and The Weight of Nothingness with Rocking With Jam Man

Cascade Effect joins Rocking With Jam Man for a full-length interview as the San Diego modern metal band heads into one of the biggest stretches of its career.

The conversation comes after a rapid run that has taken Cascade Effect from the Southern California scene to the international stage. The band won the Wacken Metal Battle USA in 2024 and went on to represent the United States at Wacken Open Air in Germany, while also sharing stages with acts including Fear Factory, Powerman 5000, Sylosis, Escape The Fate, HED PE, Infected Rain and Stitched Up Heart.

That momentum has now led to a worldwide deal with Eclipse Records. Cascade Effect’s debut full-length album, The Weight of Nothingness, is scheduled for release January 8, 2027. The 13-track record pushes the band’s mix of groove metal, deathcore, melodic death metal, progressive atmosphere and nu-metal urgency while dealing with themes including mortality, fear, isolation, regret and the search for meaning.

Across the interview, Rocking With Jam Man digs into the band’s rise, the experiences that came with Wacken, how Cascade Effect works together, the music the group is building now and what comes next as the Eclipse Records chapter begins.

One of the most interesting things about Cascade Effect is how much experience sits behind a band that has moved so quickly. The current lineup features Dustin Keimig on vocals, Seth Roscamp on drums, Bobby Fernandez on bass, Shaun Frude on guitar and Alec Peterson on guitar. Each member brought years of work from the San Diego scene into a project that found serious momentum almost immediately.

The upcoming album opens with “Rogue Wave” and continues through tracks including “2:59,” “My Devil’s Hour,” “Fear Romancer,” “Suffering in Silence,” “Red Sky in the Morning,” “Squall,” “We Don’t Need Eye,” “VOID,” “Embodied,” “Terminal Variance,” “God Particle” and the title track, “The Weight of Nothingness.”

“Rogue Wave” is built around the idea of time moving quickly while also using a wave of technology and artificial intelligence as a metaphor for the loss of genuine human connection. Elsewhere, the album moves into darker territory involving isolation, intrusive thoughts and the uncertainty that comes with trying to make sense of life.

The record was engineered and mixed by Matthew Denis at Skylit Sound and Total Access, with mastering by Miro Kiiski. Vocalist Dustin Keimig also created the album artwork, giving the project another direct connection between the band’s music and its visual identity.

For a group that has already reached Wacken, landed major support slots and signed a worldwide record deal, Cascade Effect still feels like a band at the beginning of its story. The new Rocking With Jam Man interview catches them at exactly that point: after the breakthrough moments, but before The Weight of Nothingness officially lands.
