The Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs put his own money into a Resident Evil fan film, knowing he couldn’t turn it into a traditional commercial project.
At Frightmare in the Falls, Chandler joined Rocking With Jam Man to talk about his Resident Evil 7-inspired fan project Biohazard.
Chandler says the idea came from Discord conversations with friends about how much he wanted to see a live-action adaptation of the game. Rather than wait for someone else to do it, he decided to make it himself.
Afraid of getting shut down before release
Riggs told Jam Man he kept the Resident Evil connection quiet while making the film because he had seen friends’ fan projects stopped after they announced them too early. The biggest worry wasn’t taking it down afterward — it was getting a cease-and-desist before anyone could see it.
When he finally uploaded the movie, he felt relief: even if it later came down, it would already be out in the world.
What’s Chandler Riggs’s death-row meal?
Born and raised in Georgia, Chandler went with a Southern barbecue plate: pulled pork, mashed potatoes and some vegetables.
