UK death metallers Celestial Sanctuary have announced Cradle Of The Rotten, Shrine To Those Most Foul, due January 22, 2027 via Metal Blade Records. The band’s first album for the label is accompanied by lead single and video “Lashed By Chain.”
The 47-minute record draws inspiration from the folklore and darker histories around Bury St. Edmunds, including the legend of Black Shuck, the Red Barn murders, and the area’s history of executions.
Vocalist and guitarist Tom Cronin says “Lashed By Chain” was the first song written for the album and helped set its direction, pairing fast riffing and rhythmic changes with a dual-guitar solo. Cronin also directed the video, which the band filmed in a deconsecrated ninth-century church.
The album will be released digitally and on CD and vinyl, with several limited vinyl editions announced. Celestial Sanctuary are also scheduled to support Khemmis on European and UK dates beginning October 10.
