ZORNHEYM Release ‘Descending Into Madness,’ Expanding Their Dark Asylum Universe

Swedish symphonic metal band ZORNHEYM have released their new studio album Descending Into Madness through Noble Demon.

The record continues the band’s long-running concept built around the fictional Zornheim mental asylum, where music, narrative, horror imagery and cinematic visuals all feed into one connected universe. ZORNHEYM were founded by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Zorn, formerly of DARK FUNERAL, with the goal of pushing beyond the standard “metal meets orchestra” formula.

Descending Into Madness follows the story developed across Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns, The Zornheim Sleep Experiment and the acoustic EP The Forgotten Inmates. The new album mixes symphonic arrangements, melodic death metal weight and a theatrical approach that carries into the band’s live shows.

The album includes “Deus Rex,” “Deep Below,” “Anneliese,” “Gallow’s Oak,” “The Funeral March” and the title-related track “Descending,” with additional bonus tracks on the CD edition.
