Norway is sending up something seriously heavy. AVRAK — featuring Anders Hegna alongside Darkthrone’s Ted Skjellum — have dropped their second single and lyric video, “The Lonely Shadow,” just one week before their self-titled debut album arrives October 9 through Peaceville Records.
The nine-track record is being pitched as a heavy-metal voyage from mountain peaks to the depths of the sea, built on classic metal and doom but stretching into synth textures and flashes of black-metal riffing. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Knut Magne Valle at Mølla Studio in February 2026. AVRAK will follow the release with an Oslo album-release show on November 7.

The new Norwegian Heavy Metal juggernaut AVRAK, featuring Anders Hegna (Nød, El Kayenne, Svidd Grevling) and Darkthrone’s Ted Skjellum, have released their second single “The Lonely Shadow” from the forthcoming hook-laden and doom-laced rock debut, AVRAK, released next Friday, October 9th, on Peaceville Records.
“Heavy Metal tastes great, ripe from the roots of cosmos” — Ted Skjellum
The lyric video was created by Matthew Vickerstaff.
Suitably and epically defined as a monumental “Heavy Metal voyage from the peak of the mountains to the depths of the seas”, and delivering themes relating to empowerment in the face of increasingly corrupt times, the debut album AVRAK is a combination of a vast multitude of influences. The eclectic, deceptively nuanced nine-track offering features a classic heavy metal and doom rock backbone, with further experimentation including synth passages and traces of black metal riffing.
AVRAK was recorded, mixed and mastered in Mølla Studio by Knut Magne Valle in February 2026. The album will be released October 9 on CD, classic black vinyl LP, silver vinyl LP and digitally.
