Jam Man take: MAN WITH A MISSION are doing what they do best—making giant, cinematic rock that feels built to move at the speed of the story around it. “The Animals” is tied directly to a new Japanese film, while another unreleased song, “Firestarter,” is headed to anime.

MAN WITH A MISSION have released the new single “The Animals,” written for the Japanese film Wara nimo Sugaru Kemono tachi (English: Beasts Clutching at Straws), due for release September 25.
Guitarist/vocalist/rapper Jean-Ken Johnny says the band drew inspiration directly from the film’s characters and story, exploring desire, inner conflict and the thin line between good and evil.
The music video, directed by Takasuke Kato, uses the Seven Deadly Sins as a visual motif and features a cameo by film star Oji Suzuka.
The band has also announced that unreleased track “Firestarter” will serve as the theme song for the upcoming anime series The Vermillion Mask, premiering October 10. Bassist Kamikaze Boy says he wrote the song to push the young characters forward as they carry the burden of a cruel fate.
