I just wrapped up an awesome interview with Gianluca Zanna of Zanna Records, and honestly, this was way bigger than just talking about music. We talked about building a worldwide independent brand from scratch, surviving setbacks, taking risks, analog recording, AI, fashion, comics, global radio success, and what it really takes to chase a dream when nobody hands you permission.
Gianluca’s story is wild. From being a kid in Italy dreaming about America to building Zanna Records from a ranch in Arizona, he’s created one of the most unique independent music movements out there right now. With millions of YouTube views, worldwide radio airplay across dozens of countries, viral TikTok success, comics, livestreams, shoes handmade in Italy, and the huge “Live With No Regrets — Analog Rebellion” project featuring Rudy Sarzo, Kevin Martin, Robert Sarzo, Robin Diaz, and producer Danny Saber, there was a LOT to unpack.
One of the coolest parts of the interview was hearing how the “Analog Rebellion” project actually came together. Gianluca opened up about bringing together legendary musicians for a completely live analog recording session with no safety nets, no digital perfection, and no shortcuts. We talked about how he got Kevin Martin involved, the chemistry inside the room, the pressure of recording everything live, and why he believes modern music has become too polished and disconnected from real emotion.
We also got into the future of independent music and AI. Gianluca had some strong thoughts on how artists today can build global audiences without relying on major labels and how technology is completely changing the game for independent creators.
Another really interesting part of the conversation was hearing about the expansion of the Zanna brand beyond music. We talked about the handmade Italian shoe lines, future clothing possibilities, branding, and how artists today are becoming full lifestyle brands instead of just musicians.
