Under Auburn Skies Talk New EP, Heavy Riffs, Band Chemistry, and the Darkness Behind Diminisher Of Hope
Denver metalcore band Under Auburn Skies are back with new music, and Rocking With Jam Man caught up with guitarist Zach Morgan and bassist Jose Morales for a brand-new interview digging into the band’s next chapter.
With their upcoming EP Diminisher Of Hope set for release on July 17, Under Auburn Skies are returning with a darker, heavier, and more emotionally charged sound. The six-track release features “First Blood,” “World-Eater,” “The Pale King,” “Gravemind,” “Dathomir,” and “Final Sin,” giving fans a record that blends punishing metalcore with huge atmosphere, melody, and serious personal weight.
During the interview, Zach and Jose opened up about what it was like bringing the band back after years between releases, how the songs came together, and what they wanted to prove with this new material. Zach talked about the guitar work, the riffs, and how the band pushed the sound into a heavier place, while Jose broke down the role of bass in a style where it has to hold down the low end without getting buried under the chaos.
The conversation also got into the band’s chemistry, writing process, and how guitars and bass lock together when Under Auburn Skies are at their best. With a sound built on massive breakdowns, technical parts, melody, and emotional intensity, both Zach and Jose gave insight into what makes the new EP feel like a true step forward.
A major part of the interview focused on the darker side of Diminisher Of Hope, especially songs like “Final Sin,” which deals with heavy personal themes. Zach and Jose talked about supporting that kind of emotion musically and how heavy music can become more than just aggression — it can become a way to process pain, trauma, anger, and survival.
Of course, it would not be a Rocking With Jam Man interview without some fun mixed in. The guys also talked about video game-style song titles, band nerd culture, live shows, who would survive an alien invasion, what metalcore needs less of, and which band Under Auburn Skies would challenge in a wrestling match.
Under Auburn Skies are not just releasing new music — they are stepping into a new era. With Diminisher Of Hope, the band sounds locked in, hungry, and ready to make noise far beyond Denver.
