“GEMINI” off the upcoming EP ‘ZENITH’ we talk about the concept for an entire album about Astrological signs with every song being about a different sign, and they tell me what my sign is and what my song would is about, we talk about their style of vocals and how they keep their voice in shape, we talk about touring, getting crazy in Wendy’s, and what is next for the band
Chicago, IL-based five-piece metalcore band Capital Vices (an alternative name to the seven deadly sins) have released the music video for their sophomore single, “Gemini,” from the forthcoming concept album Zenith.
“This song has an instrumental and lyrical pattern that relates to its twin aspect, as there are two vocalists sharing their side of the sign’s pros and cons,” says the band’s vocalist Kevin Avola. Drummer Matt Lathan adds: “Gemini’s sign is the twins (twin personality). You might notice that the chorus repeats twice but has two different vocalists. This was to represent the ‘twin’ aspect of this sign.”
Zenith, out Friday, March 19, is the first EP of a two-part astrology concept album. Balancing chaotic riffs and rhythms with progressive build-ups, Capital Vices’s Zenith tackles six of the 12 astrological signs. “We hope fans can enjoy the wild and diverse music and learn about the general aspects of different Astrological signs,” says Avola. “Astrology is important to people all over the world and this is our rendition of the Western version of it.”
“We have worked very hard to create better music structures and avoid the mistakes of this EPs’ predecessors,” says Lathan. “There’s a reason it took us three years. There was a group obsession to not let anything slide in terms of uncertainty. If there was even a shred of doubt about anything we wrote, it was worked out until we all were okay with what we had.”
The band–Kevin Avola (clean & unclean vocals), Matt Lathan (drums / unclean vocals), Rob Pelletier (guitar / clean & unclean vocals), Matt Wolter (guitar) and Matt Watkins (bass guitar)–are prepping the second installment of their two-part album for a late summer release.
